Mani Pedis and Birthday Cakes

Today was my day to get a mani pedi done by Ms. Jenny of Venus Salon in Forest Hill, Md. I keep a list of my favorite nail polishes, including the brand name, color name or number and usually a photo of the color to make it easier to find my favorite colors. Today I chose a Neon Orange color. It’s a gel color by IISome and the color number is 53. I’m not ready to let go of summer yet so this color was perfect. It’s a neon orange, which is very bright and summery but as we move into September,  it will work for fall, as well.

I always look forward to my mani pedi appointments. Before the Pandemic started, I used to go approximately every 5 weeks or so but since the pandemic, this is only my second time getting my nails done.

When I first moved to Howard County, Ms. Jenny encouraged me to find a nail technician closer to my new home. I tried a couple different nail salons but I just wasn’t happy. My feet and hands are very sensitive and the technicians I tried out were just too rough and the salons were too smelly. After all,  it’s supposed to be relaxing, if you can’t relax, then, the salons not working for you.

Ever since then, I drive all the way to Harford County to get my nails done by Ms. Jenny and she’s totally worth the drive! Ms. Jenny has been doing my mani pedis for years now and she’s more than just a nail tech, she’s a friend. We look forward to seeing eachother each month and I’ll continue to go to her for as long as she does nails!

On my way home from my mani pedi appointment, I picked up my birthday cake. I buy my cakes at a great little cake shop called Kupcakes & Co. They are located in Elkridge, about 15 minutes from our home and everything I’ve had from them is just wonderful!

This year I only needed a very small cake, so I ordered the smallest Unicorn layer cake that they make. I had my heart set on German Chocolate Cake with Coconut Pecan Frosting and I was definitely NOT disappointed. I have made German Chocolate Cake before but I’ve never my own Coconut Pecan Frosting. Their made-from-scratch cake and frosting was absolutely out of this world!
