Delicious Sugar Cookie Recipe

Here’s a tried and true Sugar Cookie recipe!

Growing up, over the winter holidays, I used to love to have a cookie baking weekend. My mother would allow me to move my little black and white tv into the kitchen and I would spend the weekend watching Gone with the Wind and Little Woman, crying over Beth’s death and baking sugar cookies, chocolate chip cookies and German chocolate cake!

Once my son was old enough, I wanted to share this tradition with him but we did it a little differently. Instead of taking the tv to the kitchen, we took the kitchen to the tv!

I would mix the dough in the kitchen and then move the kitchen table to the living room. We had a great time watching movies, while we rolled, cut and decorated sugar cookies.

We would drink homemade hot cocoa, roll and paint sugar cookies and watch movies

Instead of simply sprinkling colored sugar on the cookies, we used special food coloring and paint brushes to paint the cookies with beautiful designs and then sprinkled them with glistening white sugar. They were so beautiful!

And they tasted great too!!
