Buttercup’s Monthly Doctor Appointment

Now that Buttercup has become an elderly bunny, she sees her veterinarian, Dr. Haskin, about once per month.

I really can not say enough good things about Dr. Haskin and her team! You can find them at https://happierathomevet.com/

I could bring Buttercup less often to see Dr. Haskin but lately Buttercup needs a dental about every 4 weeks, so I’d rather bring her and have them say, “no need, she’s fine”, than bring her less often and take a chance on her being in pain and maybe a sharp tooth cutting her tongue.

Yesterday morning was a tough one, though.

Because of my sleep disorder, I rarely get as much sleep as I need and yesterday morning, I woke up feeling a little shakey and slightly disoriented with a general feeling of being unwell.

It was tempting to call out sick but I knew I was not actually sick, so I powered through and I’m glad I did because I felt fine by the time we arrived for her appointment.

Rabbit teeth

With rabbits, their teeth continuely grow. They should wear down naturally but there are things, like, a bite that is off or not eating enough hay, that can stop their teeth from wearing down properly.

Also, their bite can change as they age. So, a young bunny with no dental issues, could potentially develop dental issues later in life. Which is the case with Buttercup.

Heading back home

After Buttercup’s dental, we started the long drive home. Typically, the drive is anywhere from 45 minutes to 1 hour and 15 minutes but we were smack daub in the middle of rush hour, so I expected it to be on the longer side.

Buttercup is named after these flowers and Princess Buttercup of the Princess Bride

Buttercup was hungry, as she often is after her dental procedures, so I slowly gave her a 1/4 leaf of lettuce at a time as I drove.

By getting on the highway a little farther down the road than I normally would, I missed the worse part of the traffic and we made it home in 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Grocery shopping

Jason was just heading to the grocery store as we were getting home.

I used to do all the grocery shopping on instacart due to my leg pain but with all the rising costs, Jason has asked me to stop using instacart and instead, he is doing the grocery shopping.

I suppose when he gets tired of going to 2 or 3 stores to find everything, he’ll ask me to start shopping on instacart again.

Dinner

Jason also surprised me by bringing my favorite Peruvian chicken home for dinner!

He said he knew I was planning to cook but that I would be tired and he thought I would enjoy the Peruvian chicken and not having to cook.

He was right! And it gave us more time together too!

Obi-Wan Kenobi

Monday, we started watching Obi-Wan Kenobi. We are really enjoying it.

Sadly, there are only 6 episodes, which means we will probably finish watching it Wednesday night.

Some beautiful wild flowers. Are the orchids?

Have a great day!
