My Favorite Day of the Month

Wednesday, July 20th

Today is my favorite day of the month!

Fox Glove with a bee sleeping inside of it.

It’s my beauty day or self-care day.

Rather you call it self-care day, beauty day or me time, it’s important for your well being.

Self-care day vs Beauty day

I’m guessing that the term “self-care day” is more often used now because calling it “self-care” emphases that it’s part of caring for yourself, to help yourself stay healthy and happy.

Where as, some people could construe “beauty day” as being frivolous.

A wild strawberry.

What is self-care?

We all practice self-care on a daily basis to some extent.

Showering, washing your hair, brushing your teeth and even putting on make up/shaving are all self-care.

Invest in your long-term health

Allowing yourself an entire day of self-care or beauty is a way of investing in your long-term health.

Which can, in-turn, help to reduce your stress levels, improve your emotional health and give yourself an overall better quality of life.

You have to take care of yourself, if you want to be able to take care of the rest of your family.

Why a monthly beauty day?

When I started having monthly beauty days, I did not actually set out to have a full day of beauty once per month.

Actually, I was getting my hair, nails and facial done on different days of the month but because my salons are all located 1 to 1 hour and 15 minutes from my new home, making the trip several times per month was just too stressful.

So, instead, I started trying to do all my appointments on the same day.

Now, I do nails and skin care on the same day and it just ends up being a long-ish day.

Generally, on beauty days, I leave home by 12:30pm and arrive back home by 8:30pm.

I tried to squeeze my hair in there too but I my stylist is too far away, so I could not make it work and changing stylist wasn’t a good option.

Forget Me Not

It took me years to find the two great stylists that I’ve had since moving to Columbia.

Unfortunately, one stylist had to move out of state and the other stylist had to move to a salon that’s a little difficult for me to get to but she’s worth it!

Since I have very sensitive skin, hair and nails, I don’t mind traveling for great care!

Also, over the years, I’ve become very close with my nail technician, skin care specialist and hair stylist, so I always look forward to seeing the girls that help me to look and feel my best!
